PS5 UK stock - live: Game restock sells out again – here’s who could drop next

It has now been over a year since Sony’s latest console, the PlayStation 5 (PS5), first arrived in the UK. But supply problems and a worldwide chip shortage sparked by the coronavirus pandemic have caused the production of the device to slow. New stock is still tricky to find and, when it does appear, the PS5 sells out quickly.

November started incredibly slowly, with PS5 restocks only appearing at John Lewis & Partners, Game and ShopTo during the first week of the month.

The situation has since improved though and we have seen recent restocks at Very, AO, Argos, Asda and Littlewoods, plus a drop at Sony’s new PS Direct online store. There have also been several more restocks at Game. Let’s just hope the momentum continues as we edge towards Christmas.

When was the last Asda PS5 restock?

Asda didn’t restock the console at all throughout the Black Friday bonanza, but it did have a drop on 9 November. We’re not expecting another drop today, but it could restock one last time before Christmas.

There’s no general restock pattern for Asda. It has dropped every day of the week except for Friday, but it always drops before 9am.

The PS5 has sold out at Game

Whew, we told you it would go quick! The PS5 is now out of stock at Game. Don’t fret if you failed to secure one, though, we expect a few more drops to take place this week.

We’ve currently got our eye on Smyths Toys and AO, who could all restock this week, plus there’s always PlayStation Direct, who is a retailer that we’re still plotting a restock pattern for.

And here we go, the second round of Game PS5 consoles have arrived. As we mentioned earlier, these are likely cancelled orders from the previous drop, so are going to go extremely quickly.

There are no standalone consoles left, so don’t bother trying to grab one of those! Punt for a bundle with a cap – those sell out the slowest.

Can you play PS4 games on PS5?

You sure can! All the PS4 games you’ve been stacking up over the years will play on your disc edition PS5 just fine. If you’ve got a PS5 digital edition console, you’ll only be able to play PS4 games bought from the PlayStation Store.

Why? Well, that’s the tradeoff with buying a digital edition console. There’s physically no disc slot for you to put any of your PS4 games into. Thankfully for some, the digital console isn’t in stock at Game today.

The PS5 has sold out at Game but could drop again later this afternoon

After a couple of hours, the PS5 has now sold out at Game. The retailer sometimes restocks the console for a second time in the afternoon, but this is usually a much smaller drop, consisting of cancelled orders. It usually lasts around 15 minutes.

We’ll let you know if the console drops at Game again later today, so stay on the blog if you failed to bag the console this morning.

It sure does! You get one controller out of the box, but if you want to play with another person, you’ll have to buy a second dualsense controller. There’s a good controller bundle deal at Amazon right now.

PS5 digital edition UK

Searching for the cheaper digital edition PS5? Sadly, Game hasn’t put these on sale this time round, so you’ll only be able to buy the disc edition console from the retailer this morning.

If you’ve been following our stock updates for a while, you’ve probably noticed that the PS5 disc edition console is far easier to buy than the digital edition.

It’s been this way ever since the console was first released a year ago. When Eurogamer spoke to sources at various retailers before the console launched, it was told that retailers had been allocated around 25 per cent digital edition consoles and 75 per cent disc edition consoles. We doubt this has changed.

This might be your last chance to bag a console before Christmas though, so we’d try and nab a disc edition at Game if you can.

The cheapest disc edition bundle comes with an additional controller and a copy of Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales (£561.97, Game.co.uk).

When was the last PlayStation Direct PS5 restock?

Sony’s PlayStation Direct store has only been around in the UK for three weeks now and it has already had five massive drops. PS Direct had three last week, with the most recent restock taking place on 25 November.

Some of you might remember that news story a little while ago – reports were suggesting that Sony had flown PlayStation 5s into the UK on two jumbo jets, ahead of the store’s launch in the UK. We speculated that the consoles were to be dished out to third-party retailers, but now it’s more likely that it was to bolster its own stock on PlayStation Direct.

Game PS5 bundles confirmed to drop this morning

And there we have it! Game has confirmed that it is restocking the console this morning! It did it via its Facebook page and not by Twitter this time, though.

UPDATE: It seems like the retailer has ditched the restock announcements on its main Twitter page and is now sending out the warning tweet via its @GAMEHelps Twitter page.

The consoles could drop any time between now and 11am. Keep your eyes glued to the blog and we will let you know the second consoles go live.

What Game PS5 bundles are there?

Game has the largest number of PS5 bundles out of all the retailers. The bundles change all the time, but it always has at least 30 different bundles for you to choose from when stock goes live. Right now, there are 35 listed on the retailer’s website.

The cheapest disc edition bundle comes with a midnight black dualsense controller and a copy of Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales (£561.97, Game.co.uk). Miles Morales earned a spot on our edit of the best PS5 games.

While you won’t be able to click through to the checkout until stock goes live, you can still have a browse of all the bundles on offer right now.

Could Game PS5 bundles drop today?

Last week, Game updated its PS5 bundles page with new dispatch dates of 9 December, with priority insured orders to be dispatched by 3 December. That means a drop could take place today, tomorrow or Thursday, with @PS5StockAlertUK suggesting that the most likely drop date is 30 November – that’s today.

Game usually sends out a tweet before it drops the PS5, so we’ll be keeping an eye on the retailer’s social channels and let you know the minute it posts an update. It usually drops stock at around 10am.

What PS5 restocks could we see today?

Gooooood morning PS5 hunters and welcome to another day of console stock tracking action. While we didn’t get any restocks on Cyber Monday, let’s just say we weren’t all that surprised.

Mondays are usually pretty quiet days for restocks in general, so if you add on top a big sales event – something the PS5 will doubtlessly never be a part of (for a few years at least), and well, you see the logic.

But today could be a whole different story. Last week, Game updated its PS5 bundles page with new release dates, putting it in prime position for a restock today. More on that soon. For now, keep your eyes on the blog and we’ll bring you all the live restock updates as they happen.
