PSU authors to be honored at reception

Nov. 1—PITTSBURG, Kan. — Pittsburg State University will host a reception for university authors from 3 to 4 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 9, on the first floor of Leonard H. Axe Library. It is open to the public.

The reception serves to highlight the accomplishments of Pitt State employees who publish or develop creative works each year.

Book authors and editors being recognized will include:

—Allison Blevins, adjunct lecturer in history, philosophy and social sciences: "Cataloguing Pain" and "Fiery poppies bruising their own throats."

—Steve Cox, retired university archivist: "John T. Wilder: union general, southern industrialist."

—Tim Dell, professor in automotive technology: "Heavy Equipment Power Trains and Systems," 2nd Edition.

—Mark Johnson, professor in workforce development: "Train the Trainer: Training Techniques Workbook."

—Jessica Jorgenson Borchert, associate professor in English and modern languages: "Academic Mothers Building Online Communities: It Takes a Village."

—Laura Lee Washburn, professor in English and modern languages: "The Book of Stolen Images."

The reception is a come-and-go event. Light snacks and drinks will be served.

Physical samples of the published works and books by all university authors will be on display on the first floor of Axe Library beginning Monday.

They also will be available online at digitalcommons.pittstate.edu/far.

A virtual discussion with the authors also will be available online after the reception.
