K-pop superstar Psy’s upcoming ninth album titled “Psy 9th Ssada9,” an abbreviated phrase meaning “Psy’s diverse ninth album,” is star-studded with collaborating artists.
The album marks the artist’s comeback since he released his last album, “Psy 8th 4X2 = 8,” in 2017.
On April 12, he posted an announcement on Twitter and included a clip from one of his 2013 concerts, predicting when he would once again produce a song as epic as “Gangnam Style.”
“To be honest, I produced ‘Champion’ in 2002, and it took me exactly ten years to produce a song that is more sensational than that. ‘Gangnam Style’ was released in 2012. I guess what I’m trying to say is that perhaps the next time you’ll meet a song like ‘Gangnam Style’ will be in 2022.”

Psy has been sharing daily clips to Twitter hinting at the featured artists and tracks on his upcoming album. The 12-song album is set for release on April 29 at 6 p.m. KST and features the track “That That” produced by BTS’ Suga, who he discusses meeting in one of his Twitter videos.
“When meeting younger artists, I don’t want to be someone who’s hard to approach. Suga wasn’t just my junior in the business, but also he truly feels like a friend. It was hard to feel any age gap,” Psy says of their collaboration in a clip posted to his Twitter page.
In response, Suga says, “He’s many years my senior and someone who’s so well-respected in the business. I was quite nervous.”
“Felt like working with a childhood friend, so it made the songwriting process that much more fun,” he added. “We became besties in a way,”

Epik High’s Tablo is credited as a songwriter on the album for track four and is a feature on track 11, titled “Forever.” Psy and Tablo can be seen in the artist’s behind-the-scenes clips sharing what the song means to them, how the track took three years to make and what it was like to work together. “The audience and those who are listening to our music,” says Tablo in a video that was posted to P Nation’s Twitter page. “I want to be together with my fans forever. This song embodies that hope. But at the same time, nothing lasts forever.”
Psy adds, “I wrote this song one early morning with such fear, but certain things are needless to say. When we work together, we often create a lot of touching music. This song finally saw the light of day in three years. We worked on this song ages ago so like the title, I thought, 'It will be ‘forever’ in the making.”

Track six, titled “Ganji” features a collab between Psy and Korean American rapper Jessi, who initially turned down the song before deciding the beat was too good to pass up.
“On the last day of Jessi’s music video Zoom, I said, ‘Jessi, let me ask you for a favor,’” Psy recounts in another clip. After Jessi had recorded her part and sent it, Psy says he asked her “to add more Korean.”
Jessi shares, “Psy Oppa always tells me to get my Korean straight.”

Member of K-pop girl group Mamamoo and soloist Hwasa will feature on track seven, titled “이제는,” or “Now.” This is the first time Hwasa and Psy have worked together.
Psy shares that the track is a remake of a 1987 song of the same name by Seoul Family, which itself is a remake of Jermaine Jackson and Pia Zadora’s 1984 song “When The Rain Begins To Fall.”
