The Louisiana State Fire Marshal's Office is seeking a suspect in a June arson in Pineville at a Lorelei Street house where two people were sleeping.

The fire was put out quickly before it spread past the home's front porch when one of the residents woke up and used a water hose to douse it, according to a news release issued Friday. The Pineville Fire Department responded to the home off Pinecrest Drive, too.

Investigators now are asking the public for help in finding a man they believe is a suspect in the early June 5 fire. The man wore a black shirt under a light-colored sweatshirt with a hood, dark pants with a reflective stripe on the left thigh and black shoes.

A surveillance camera at the house captured the moment the man walked through the yard and approached. He walks out of sight of the camera, but later is seen running away as fire flares on the porch.

Anyone with information about the fire or suspect is asked to call the office's arson hotline at 1-844-954-1221 or use an online tip form at lasfm.org.
