Public Health to spray for West Nile Virus in Centerville, Washington Twp.

Dayton and Montgomery County Public Health will conduct an Ultra Low Volume truck mounted mosquito spraying on Friday night near the Driscoll Elementary School, according to a press release from a Centerville spokesperson.

The following streets will be treated with the pesticide:

• Marshall Road between Limberlost Trail and Stone Lake Townhomes.

• Terrance Park Drive.

• Nicolet Lane.

• Hithergreen Drive.

• Overhill Lane.

• Limberlost Trail.

• Stone Lake Townhomes.

The spray is used to reduce mosquito activity and minimize the threat of mosquito-borne illnesses such as the West Nile Virus, the spokesperson said.

The Environmental Protection Agency approved this pesticide and found it poses minimal risks to residents health and the environment, the release said.

Anyone who would prefer to avoid being exposed to the pesticide are encouraged to close windows, turn off window air conditioning units during spraying and for 30 minutes after, the spokesperson said.

“Dayton and Montgomery County’s Mosquito and Vector Disease Control program protects our community from mosquito-borne diseases,” the city spokesperson said. “The local mosquito population is monitored, tested and controlled through regular trapping, species identification and spraying in contracted areas.”
