Public invited to in-person/virtual meeting on FM 1187 project

Sep. 28—TARRANT COUNTY — The public is invited to attend a virtual public meeting with an in-person option for a proposed project on FM 1187 from the Parker County line (Bella Flora Drive) to Chisholm Trail Parkway in Tarrant County.

The in-person option will be an open-house format with no formal presentation on Tuesday, Oct. 3 from 6-8 p.m. at the Benbrook High School located at 201 Overcrest Dr., Benbrook.

The virtual meeting will be available beginning Tuesday, Oct. 3 at 8 a.m. here (www.txdot.gov, Keyword: FM 1187 West Tarrant). A pre-recorded video, project information, and project maps will be available at both options.

The project proposes reconstructing and widening FM 1187 from an existing two-lane roadway to a four-lane roadway with a curbed center median. The disjointed intersection at FM 1187 and US 377 will be reconstructed to an overpass with continuous alignment. The project also proposes to construct off-roadway shared-use paths (12-foot sidewalks) in each direction for bicycle and pedestrian accommodation, construct an overpass at the Fort Worth and Western Railroad crossing, and conversion of roadside ditches to underground storm sewers.

Written comments from the public regarding the proposed project are requested and may be submitted by mail to Ram Dhakal, P.E. at TxDOT Fort Worth District Office, 2501 Southwest Loop 820, Fort Worth, Texas 76133. Comments may also be submitted by email to Ram.Dhakal@txdot.gov. All comments must be received on or before Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2023.
