Capitol Lake walkers, beware. Park restrooms will be closed this week. Here are options

Public restrooms in Olympia’s Heritage Park will be closed this week so they can be repaired and cleaned. The Washington State Department of Enterprise Services will close the bathrooms from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. from Wednesday, May 24, through May 26.

The bathrooms will reopen each night starting at 4 p.m. and close at dusk.

The restrooms in Marathon Park, on the west side of the lake, also will be closed all day Thursday, May 25, according to DES, to pressure wash the interior and exterior of the bathrooms and remove winter debris from the gutters and roof.

But there will still be nearby bathroom options on the Capitol Campus, including near the Pollinator Garden and Capitol Lake Interpretive Center. Signs pointing toward open bathrooms will be visible around both parks, but if you don’t have the time to be following signs, here’s where you can find open bathrooms:

Public restrooms near the Capitol Campus:

  • East Campus Plaza, on the east side of Capitol Way near the Pollinator Garden

  • Capitol Lake Interpretive Center, on the southwest corner of Capitol Lake on Deschutes Parkway SW

  • Marathon Park, open every day except May 25

  • Heritage Park, open from 4 p.m. to dusk from May 24-26
