Public sessions scheduled to tally Bedford, Laconia ballots under investigation

Apr. 5—Public sessions will be held this week where state officials will inventory ballots relating to elections investigations in Bedford and Laconia, officials with the Attorney General's Office and Secretary of State's Office announced Monday.

The sessions will be conducted at the State Archives building, 9 Ratification Way, in Concord.

The sessions come after courts authorized the Attorney General's Office to examine election materials from both communities, where some votes from the 2020 general election went uncounted.

In Laconia, a court is allowing the state to open a sealed envelope containing an unknown number of ballots that were cast but apparently not counted in several recent elections, including the 2020 general election.

In Bedford, the court gave permission for state officials to open and tally absentee ballots that were not counted in the same election.

The Bedford public session will take place at 9 a.m. on Wednesday; the Laconia session with be held Thursday at 9 a.m.
