This week, we asked readers for their thoughts on the leaked U.S. Supreme Court document that indicates the court may ultimately overturn abortion rights in the U.S. Here are some of their responses:

  • "It makes me so sick. Those before us fought for our rights today, and now they’re being stripped away left and right. When will it end? Something has to change."

— Kathlena Padilla, Edmond

  • "As a young woman, I am terrified. I am concerned about the consequences of the overturn, such as unsafe abortions and the mental health of young mothers who will be forced to give birth. The limited and expensive access to childcare is already a barrier for marginalized women. These are scary times for not only women but society as a whole. Children raised in households that are not loving can grow up to have serious mental health issues."

— Xiclali Villa, Edmond

  • "An overturn of abortion rights in the US would be catastrophic to the freedom of the millions of Americans, especially women, living in this country. It is ludicrous that the Supreme Court is considering repealing abortion rights, considering these rights were already granted to us in 1973. Why should this be overturned if this was argued and passed? It’s a shame that women have to live where other people determine what we can and can’t do with our bodies. More significant issues in this country include poverty, homelessness, affordable care, and housing. Still, here we are — arguing whether or not it is morally correct to force a woman to have a baby against her will."

— Yenei Perez, Oklahoma City

  • "This is unfortunately, and devastatingly predictable."

— Rebecca Peters, Newalla

  • "There is not one state in this country that has more than 30% approval for the overturning of Roe v. Wade. That includes Oklahoma. I am devastated by this decision and dread what will occur in Oklahoma once it is final."

— Erica Browne, Oklahoma City

  • "This is an egregious violation of personal rights. And it's bad governance."

— Peter Fulmer, Oklahoma City

  • "This feels like a war on women."

— Jordan Hale, Edmond

  • "Finally, justice for those without a voice."

— Jennifer Besse, Shawnee
