Public can vote on Smith-Hazel Recreation Center designs Thursday

Dec. 6—Local community residents can help Aiken pick design options for Smith-Hazel Park on Thursday evening.

The Aiken Parks, Recreation and Tourism department will hold a public input meeting 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the Smith-Hazel Recreation Center located at 416 Kershaw St. S.E.

"Outdoor recreation is an essential part of the health of our community," Department Director Jessica Campbell said. "We would love to hear from a variety of groups and individuals who utilize or plan to utilize Smith-Hazel Park for leisure activities now and in years to come."

Campbell and staff will present concepts that residents can review and vote on their desired option.

Comment cards will be provided to collect feedback.

Funding for upgrades comes from the county's fourth capital project sales tax and a grant from the Land and Water Conservation Fund.
