Publix groceries can now be delivered in 30 minutes through Instacart
Craving a Pub Sub but don’t want to wait in line? Instacart will deliver one in as fast as 30 minutes, the company announced Thursday.
Publix Quick Picks is a new service from Instacart — the grocery delivery app — which serves as a virtual express lane. It allows shoppers to order Publix groceries, including pre-made foods, online or through the app with “Priority Delivery.”
Instacart launched its “Priority Delivery” service in May in 300 stores nationwide. Publix Quick Picks began in September as a pilot program in Tampa, according to Instacart. The express delivery service is now rolling out to nearly 1,200 Publix stores across seven states.
“Since launching Publix Quick Picks on Instacart, we’ve seen rapid customer adoption,” Erik Katenkamp, Publix vice president of omnichannel and application development, said in a statement.
There’s been growing demand for convenience and quicker delivery options, Instacart vice president of retail Chris Rogers said in a statement. Ahead of the holidays, the company expects customers to use the new service for last-minute needs and cravings.
Delivery fees start at $3.99 for same-day orders over $35, according to Instacart. Pricing for Priority Delivery is higher than standard Instacart delivery or Publix’s curbside pickup service.
Officials with Publix did not respond to requests for an interview for this story.
Instacart delivers groceries and other items from about 65,000 stores nationwide and is available to more than 85 percent of U.S. households, according to the company.
Publix and Instacart partnered up in 2016 to launch a same-day grocery delivery service. Standard orders may take up to an hour to be delivered. Alcohol delivery and pickup is available in select states, including Florida. Curbside pickup is available at nearly all Publix locations and is not affiliated with Instacart.
