Easter Sunday is just a few days away — do you have everything you need?

For many in the South, Easter Sunday means dressing up in your finest outfits for pictures, attending a morning church service, then heading out for a big meal. Some will pack local restaurants, but many others will have home-cooked lunches or dinners.

And whether you are making the meal yourself or bringing food to a grandparent’s home or perhaps a church potluck, oftentimes during the hustle and bustle of the week, you’ll forget that one key ingredient or necessary side. And that means a quick trip to a grocery store.

However, not all grocery stores are open on Easter Sunday, while some only have limited hours.

Here’s which big chains in South Carolina will be open on Easter Sunday.

Publix

Publix shoppers will need to look elsewhere on Easter Sunday. All Publix stores will be closed.

“In our 93-year history, we have closed on Easter Sunday in observance of the holiday and to allow our associates time with family and friends,” a Publix spokesman statement reads.

Whole Foods

Whole Foods Market stores in South Carolina will be open for Easter Sunday shopping. However, hours may be limited and will vary by location, a company spokesman said.

He recommended customers visit wholefoodsmarket.com/stores and select their neighborhood store for updates on hours.

Target

Whether you have a Target with a large grocery store section or a small one, the result will be the same come Easter Sunday — closed.

“Guests can expect regular store hours on April 10 and can check Target.com or the Target app for local store information,” a Target spokesperson said.

Piggly Wiggly

Most Piggly Wiggly stores should be open on Easter Sunday. However, each store is independently owned and operated, meaning the hours for them can vary. You can contact your local store for details. To search for Piggly Wiggly locations, click here.

Walmart

Walmart stores have historically remained open on Easter Sunday and should do so again this year. However, regular hours can vary between stores. So, you should still check your Walmart’s hours before heading to shop.

Food Lion

Food Lion fans in South Carolina are in luck! The grocery chain will operate normal business hours on Easter Sunday, a company spokesman said.
