Publix pledges $23M to several nonprofit organizations to help alleviate hunger

Publix has pledged $23 million to help alleviate hunger, the company announced Monday.

The announcement is part of Publix Super Markets and Publix Super Markets Charities’ commitment to supporting hunger alleviation by the end of 2023.

Publix said the donation will go toward the purchase and equipping of mobile food pantries.

In September, PSMC announced it would make a $5.65 million donation to 328 food banks and other nonprofit organizations.

Publix CEO Todd Jones said the grocery chain is dedicated to providing food to those in need.

“As Americans continue to face hunger, we wanted to do more to help get much-needed meals onto the plates of our neighbors,” Jones said.

Publix and PSMC have pledged a total of $23 million to help alleviate hunger by the end of 2023.

In its first year of operation, the company has provided more than 10 million pounds of produce to 20 mobile pantries.

The company said the summit will provide a forum for open discussion and sharing of best practices in areas including logistics, warehousing, and transportation.
