Dec. 28—The Public Utilities Commission approved an increase to Liberty's electric energy service rates, according to a Dec. 27 order. The rates will be effective between Feb. 1 and July 31.
The rate for small customers (including residential customers) will jump from 8.396 cents per kilowatt-hour to 11.119 cents per kWh, which is 4.699 cents per kWh higher than the energy service rate for the same six-month period last year, according to the order.
The commission found Liberty's evaluations were reasonable and appropriate.
"Liberty's testimony and its bid evaluation report indicate that bid prices reflect expected market conditions for the six-month period beginning February 1, 2022," the order reads.
