Pueblo coroner IDs Texas woman killed in Interstate 25 crash in Pueblo

A Texas woman was killed in a one-vehicle crash Wednesday morning, according to the county coroner's office. She was identified Friday as 48-year-old Stephanie Darrcel Gatson, of Ft. Worth.

The crash occurred at around 9:50 a.m. Wednesday, Sgt. Frank Ortega of the Pueblo Police Department told the Chieftain Thursday.

A white SUV, driven by Gatson, was traveling northbound onto the Interstate 25 on-ramp at Pueblo Boulevard when the vehicle went off the roadway, according to Ortega.

"They went up the embankment a little bit and then started flipping," Ortega said. The vehicle then came to rest on its side.

Gatson was killed and two passengers were taken to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The crash was attributed to fatigue, Ortega said, although he noted he did not know if Gatson was asleep at the time of the crash.
