Two Puebloans killed in recent vehicle wrecks were identified Friday by Pueblo County Coroner Brian Cotter.

Jeremy Michael Cabrera, 43, of Pueblo, was killed in a single motorcycle crash on May 3 near the 3300 block of North Elizabeth Street. He was pronounced dead at the scene by a coroner investigator, and an autopsy has been completed.

The following day on May 4, Donald McCoy, 82, of Pueblo, died from injuries sustained when he was struck by a vehicle on East U.S. Highway 50 near 30th Lane. McCoy also was pronounced dead at the scene by a coroner investigator.

Both victims' next of kin have been notified.

Pueblo police said Cabrera was "test-driving" the motorcycle when he collided with a curb, causing the wreck that killed him. Neither alcohol nor speed were considered to be factors in the incident, according to the Pueblo Police Department.

McCoy, a pedestrian, was hit and killed around 9 p.m. on the night of May 4. He was struck by a Ford F-350 being driven by a 51-year-old man.

Colorado State Patrol Trooper Gabriel Moltrer said McCoy was walking in the left lane of eastbound Highway 50 Business near 30th Lane as the truck traveled eastbound in that same lane, striking McCoy.

The impact caused McCoy to be thrown from the roadway and into a ditch. The driver of the truck pulled off of the road, called 911, and waited on scene for emergency personnel to arrive.

A vehicle belonging to McCoy was found on the eastbound shoulder of the roadway "nearly parallel to where the victim was hit," Moltrer said.

The vehicle was running with its hazard lights on, and the victim had seemingly exited the vehicle to check irrigation gates on a building he owned, which was located off of the north edge of the roadway, Moltrer said.

Moltrer stated there were no criminal charges against the driver of the F-350, and speed and alcohol were not considered factors in the wreck. The three passengers in the truck were not injured during the incident.
