Pueblo farms celebrating fall with pumpkin patches, other festivities

With Halloween around the corner and fall well underway, Pueblo farms are getting into the spirit of the season with pumpkin patches, hayrides, corn mazes and more. Here's what you need to know about the various offerings at local farms this year.

Harvest Days

Harvest Days, at U.S. Highway 50 Business and 33rd Lane, offers a pumpkin patch, corn maze, hay rides, farm animals and "other fun farm activities" including a bounce pad and corn box, said Katrina Chambers, co-owner of Harvest Days.

Harvest Days is open every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday in October, from 10 a.m. until it gets dark, or about 6 p.m. The family-run business has been active in Pueblo for about 12 years, Chambers said.

The price of admission is $15 and includes a pumpkin from the patch, which guests can pick for themselves, as well as entrance to the two corn mazes — one considered easy and a more difficult one — and a small cup of food to feed the animals. A food truck is also on site.

"We try to provide people with a fun farm experience when people come out to pick their pumpkin," said Chambers. "It's a real patch, so they're not set out, people can pick them off the vines. And they get to create memories with their families, picking a pumpkin, getting lost in a corn maze, meeting the farm animals."

Pantaleo Farms

The oldest pumpkin patch in Pueblo, Pantaleo Farms, 39651 South Road, will also hold a "great pumpkin patch" for the 21st year running. A $3 admission fee permits entrance to the pumpkin patch, hayrides, a nightly bonfire, Scary Sheri's craft boutique, and the Spookley the Square Pumpkin Theatre.

Other events, priced separately, include pony rides, a 10-acre corn maze, an inflatable spook house, face painting, "Carter's cow train" and a petting zoo. Pumpkin price range from $1 on up, depending on the size of the pumpkin, said Gina Pantaleo of Pantaleo Farms.

"It's very much affordable family fun, we gear it all towards the family," Pantaleo said. "We're the only ones open at night, which is fun for the corn maze people, they like to go through it in the dark. We have a ton of fun kid events. It's a lot of fun for the entire family."

The pumpkin patch is open for three weekends; Oct. 7-9, Oct. 14-16, and Oct. 21-23. Hours are Fridays from 4-11 p.m., Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m., and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Milberger Farms

Milberger Farms, 28759 E. U.S. Highway 50, holds an organic corn maze and pumpkin patch that's open every weekend in October.

Admission is $12 per person, and children ages 2 and under are free, according to the Milberger Farms Facebook page. Admission includes entrance to the corn maze, a pumpkin from the patch, a barrel ride, hayride, a corn box and more.

The farm will also host a tractor pull Oct. 8-9, in which tractors compete to see which can pull the heaviest load.

The pumpkin patch and other October festivities will be open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily on weekends.

Musso Farms

Musso Farms, famous for its Pueblo chile crop throughout the year, will host a one-weekend "Great Jack-O-Lantern Pumpkin Sale" Oct. 8-9 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., according to the farm's Facebook page. The event will feature free wagon rides to the pumpkin field where guests can pick their choice of pumpkin for $8.

Along with pumpkins, the Mussos will sell decorative corn stocks for $7 a piece, and also will have food and entertainment options, with music by DJ Chris Garcia and food from the Pork Chop Lady, a contestant in the 2022 Governor's Plate contest at the Colorado State Fair.
