Pueblo hosts 72-hour filmmaking challenge, premieres short films and awards

(PUEBLO, Colo.) — From Friday, March 1 through Monday, March 4, Pueblo will become the hub of a filmmaking bonanza as 26 Colorado-based film crews create short films. The entire process of writing, filming, and editing the films will all take place within the 72-hour time limit.

Each filmmaking team will have a specific genre, character, prop, and line of dialogue assigned to them, and must use those to write, film, and edit a 5-7 minute original short film. The films will then be judged and scored by a panel that features the writer and Director of the Final Destination Franchise, Jeffrey Reddick, Emmy Award Winning Executive Producer, Jenn George Hunter, and Executive Producer of Viewtouch Pictures, Paul Craig.

Kickass Film Festival hosts the challenge, and the filmmaking event paves the way for the world premiere and award show on April 6 at the Sangre De Cristo Art Center. All 26 short films will premiere on the day of the event. In the evening there will be a Hollywood-style award show, with 14 awards, $2,000 in cash prizes, and a red-carpet party with live musical entertainment. Tickets for the event can be purchased at their website.
