L.B. Foster, a Pueblo railroad business that is dedicated to innovative technology solutions designed to save lives and prevent accidents on level crossings, is set to host railroad officials from 20 countries June 10 as part of a conference.

“This is a wonderful opportunity for us to open our doors and showcase what we do in Pueblo to the world," said Michael O’Connell, manager of technology sales.

"Our visitors will have a wholly immersive experience, with live demonstrations of several of our innovative monitoring technologies, including our level crossing and rockfall monitoring solutions, which provide advance alerts to railroad operators of potential hazards on the line.”

L.B. Foster’s Pueblo facility manufactures and supplies railroad equipment for mainline, transit, mining, port and industrial markets worldwide. On June 10, delegates also will visit the Security and Emergency Response Training Center in Pueblo which was formerly home to Transportation Technology Center Inc.

L.B. Foster in Pueblo is part of the NASDAQ listed, global L.B. Foster Company, based in Pittsburgh.

Colorado State University Pueblo names new business school dean

Steve Norman, Ph.D., is returning to Colorado State University Pueblo as dean of the Hasan School of Business.

Norman served as a business professor at CSU Pueblo for eight years before accepting the position as head of the business school at Colorado Mesa University in 2016.

"Norman is an accomplished leader who also knows CSU Pueblo well," said Mohamed Abdelrahman, provost and executive vice president for academic affairs. "I am sure  faculty and staff will continue their successful path of excellence and collaboration under Norman's leadership."

"I will work hard to create a supportive and inclusive environment that supports diversity, personal and professional growth for our students, our faculty, our staff and the community of Pueblo," Norman said. "I will also work hard to help grow our student body both in quantity and quality to help develop successful business professionals."

Parkview names new cath lab manager

Lindsay Salas, RN has accepted the role of Cath Lab Manager at Parkview Health System this week.

Salas received her associates at Otero Junior College and completed a bachelor of science in nursing at Colorado State University Pueblo in 2014. She has worked at Parkview since the summer of 2014 serving in various departments from the intensive care unit to the cath lab.

“Lindsay has been serving in the role as interim Cath Lab Manager for the past six months and we are very excited she has elected to stay in the role permanently,” said Dan Bergman, director of cardiovascular services at Parkview. “She is a great asset to our team and a strong advocate for our patients.”

Salas' goals for the new position are nurturing and growing the staff to their greatest potential, assisting in bringing new cardiology programs to Parkview, learning and growing as a leader and improving the patient experience, she said.
