Pueblo police have issued an arrest warrant charging a man with murder in connection to a fatal shooting in early December.

Police announced Monday in a news release that detectives had obtained a warrant for the arrest of Austin Aragon on suspicion of second-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder in connection to the Dec. 2 shooting that killed 32-year-old Alonzo Valdez and injured a woman.

Just after 2 a.m. on Dec. 2, officers were dispatched to the 1000 block of East Sixth Street on a report of a shooting and arrived to find a man, later identified as Valdez, had been killed. Officers also located a female victim who was taken to a local hospital and treated for life-threatening injuries.

Police seek info on Sunday night homicide

Pueblo police also announced Monday the department is seeking information regarding a Sunday night homicide in which a man, who has not yet been identified by the county coroner, was found not breathing and later pronounced dead.

Police are asking Puebloans who live in the area surrounding East 14th Street and Troy Avenue and have a surveillance system on their property to check the footage for any sign of suspicious people or vehicles between the hours of 8-10 p.m.

"Unfortunately, there are no descriptions to provide, so any suspicious activity could be helpful in bringing justice to the family of the deceased," police wrote in the release. "Additionally, if you have knowledge of any persons that may have been sprayed with OC Spray (mace) yesterday evening around or after 8 p.m., please inform the Pueblo Police Department of this information."

Anyone with additional information regarding either incident is asked by Pueblo PD to contact Detective Jose Medina at 719-320-6038. To remain anonymous, contact Pueblo Crime Stoppers at 719-542-STOP (719-542-7867) or visit pueblocrimestoppers.com. Information that leads to a felony arrest could qualify its submitting party for a cash reward.
