Students return to Pulaski High School after second bomb threat Tuesday

PULASKI — Students at Pulaski High School are returning to class after a bomb threat Tuesday morning, the second in less than a week. The high school was evacuated, and law enforcement cleared staff and students to reenter the building at 11:22 a.m., according to an email from the Pulaski Community School District.

The school received a bomb threat Friday, resulting in the evacuation of the district's high school students to the middle school about a half-mile away. Friday's threat was shared with local news media and then with police.

"A similar threat was shared with local media this morning," according to an email the district sent to parents Tuesday. "School cameras were checked and the building was secured overnight. The perimeter and roof was also checked by law enforcement."

Neither Friday nor Tuesday's threats were shared with the Press-Gazette.

The district said it decided to evacuate again Tuesday as a precautionary measure. As of 9:23 a.m., the district awaited a K9 unit to check the high school.

The district encourages parents to keep their children in school, according to the district email.

"A further message will be coming forth with details on the (district) action plan to multiple similar threats," the email said. "We are working with other districts and law enforcement agencies that have had similar multiple threats occur and their responses and action plans."

In May 2022, the Kiel School District received six bomb threats, all unfounded, that disrupted learning and sowed fear throughout the community.
