Pulitzer Prize-winning team releases ’20 Days in Mariupol’ trailer about fall of Ukrainian port city

Winner of the Audience Award at January’s Sundance Film Festival in the USA, the Pulitzer Prize-winning documentary was recently screened at Kyiv’s Docudays Human Rights Documentary Festival, where it picked up two more awards.

The film will soon see wide release in the USA and Ukraine.

Viewers at the film’s premiere at Kyiv’s Docudays film festival said “the footage was breathtaking.”

The Associated Press’ Chernov, as well as photographer Yevhen Maloletka and producer Vasylisa Stepanenko, were the only international journalists in Mariupol in February-March 2022 to document the events during the seizure of the city by Russian troops.

Their photos and videos of Russian crimes splashed across the front pages and live broadcasts of mass media worldwide.

The notoriety obtained from their work in Mariupol led to Russian troops announcing a manhunt for the crew. The journalists managed to escape the surrounded city along the green corridor after 20 days.

The “20 Days in Mariupol” documentary will be presented at the Mykolaichuk OPEN festival to be held in the western city of Chernivtsi from June 15-20.
