Yae Miko and Yoimiya are worthwhile characters to have, but would it be better to skip their banners and wait for Kazuha's rerun instead?

Genshin Impact version 3.7 is upon us, and this version’s banners will be full of reruns for some of the game’s most coveted characters.

The first half of version 3.7 will feature reruns for Electro catalyst user Yae Miko and Pyro bow user Yoimiya as well as their signature weapons. The 4-star Inazuman cat girl Kirara will be making her debut in this banner too.

So, should you pull for Yae Miko, Yoimiya, and their signature weapons or should you save up instead? After all, the second half of version 3.7 does feature the reruns of Anemo sword user Kazuha (the true Anemo Archon) and Dendo daddy Alhaitham. Not only that, we’re nearing the release of Fontaine and new characters from that region too.

If you’re still torn on what to do on this banner, read on and we’ll help you decide.

Need a versatile Electro DPS? Get Yae Miko

Yae Miko is a versatile Electro DPS character who can summon up to three fox turrets with her skill to attack enemies. She can then use her burst to unleash a powerful barrage of Electro attacks to clear the field, which also resets the cooldown on her fox turret summons and help begin another rotation of your character’s abilities.

Since Yae Miko’s fox turrets act independently, she can take on both on-field Main DPS and off-field Sub DPS roles. Her off-field damage capabilities makes her especially potent in the current metagame, where Dendro and its myriad reactions remain dominant.

If you want to play Yae Miko as on-field Main DPS, her fox turrets and Electro-infused normal attacks can be empowered by putting her alongside a Dendro character to trigger the Aggravate reaction. You can then add a Hydro character to your party for even more colourful damage numbers from the Hyperbloom and Electro-Charged reactions.

Switching Yae Miko to an off-field Sub DPS role still lets her do these things, as her fox turrets provide both off-field damage and Electro application to help trigger reactions. The constant Electro application from the fox turrets notably makes Yae Miko a reliable driver for the Spread reaction, which boosts the damage of a Dendro DPS character like Alhaitham.

Of course, you can also run Yae Miko in hybrid quickswap role, where she deals damage from off-field with her fox turrets before switching back on-field once the abilities of your other DPS are on cooldown.

All that is to say that Yae Miko is a versatile character that will be a good addition to almost any team, especially in compositions that rely on Dendro-related reactions.

For example, you can run an Aggravate team with Yae Miko as the main DPS alongside two Dendro characters to drive the reactions. You can then slot in an Anemo character for even more damage buffs and leave the final slot for a defensive character. A 5-star version of this team can include Yae Miko, Nahida, Baizhu, and Kazuha.

On the other hand, you can run a more flexible Hyperbloom team with Yae Miko being more of an off-field Sub DPS. You can pair her with one Dendro, one Hydro, and one flex slot in this team, with a 5-star lineup including the likes of Yae Miko, Nahida, Yelan, and Kokomi.

Yae Miko is also fairly easy to build, with many good artifact and weapon options. Since her damage scales off both ATK and Elemental Mastery, we recommend the 4-piece Gilded Dreams set, especially if she’s in a Dendro team. Otherwise, you can run a more generalist mixed set like the 2-piece Thundering Fury and any 2-piece set that gives an ATK% bonus.

So, if you need someone that you can slot into almost any team and shine regardless of what role you put her in, then Yae Miko is very much worth the Primogems.

Need an all-around DPS? Get Yoimiya

Yoimiya is one of the most underrated DPS characters in Genshin Impact, largely due to her being a Pyro character where the likes of Hu Tao and Xiangling were already dominating the DPS niche before she was released. But even so, Inazuma’s resident fireworks girl can keep up with the best of them when utilised correctly.

Yoimiya’s kit is centred on her normal attacks, which she can empower with a Pyro-infusion with her skill. On the other hand, her burst helps her teammates by marking an enemy and causing any attacks from other party members to cause Pyro explosions.

While Yoimiya’s only role is a Main DPS, she can go about in multiple ways. You can either pair Yoimiya with Hydro characters like Yelan or Xingqiu to boost her damage with the Vaporize reaction or go all-in on boosting her Normal Attacks with Yun Jin or Ayato.

For a Vaporize Yoimiya team, you’ll need to run her with either Yelan or Xingqiu (or both) as well as one buffer and one shielder or healer. A sample lineup for this template can include Yoimiya, Yelan, Kazuha, and Zhongli.

If you want to go all-in on boosting Yoimiya’s normal attacks, then you’ll need to pair her with characters that provide normal attack buffs, namely Yun Jin and Ayato. You can go with either one of them or both. The fourth slot on that team can go to either another buffer or a defensive support to provide shields or healing. For example, you can then round out the Yoimiya-Yun Jin-Ayato trio with Bennett, who provides both damage buffs and healing.

Yoimiya also has a straightforward build in terms of both artifacts and weapons (more on the latter below). Her best artifact set is hands-down the 4-piece Shimenawa’s Reminiscence, which greatly boost her normal attacks and can be farmed from the most resin-efficient artifact domain in the game. You can also go for the 4-piece Crimson Witch of Flames, though your substats will largely determine whether you go for one or the other.

So if you need a DPS that can go against any enemy the game throws at you (as long as it isn’t immune to Pyro), then go get Yoimiya. With the right build and teammates, you can just pop her skill and pew-pew-pew your way to victory.

Should you get Yae Miko and Yoimiya’s signature weapons?

Both Yae Miko and Yoimiya will reach their full potential when equipped with their signature weapons, though you don’t really need them for them to be effective. So, we recommend keeping your wallets closed and instead opt for 4-star options that still get the job done.

Yae Miko’s best 4-star weapons are The Widsith and the Solar Pearl, both of which can rival her 5-star options at high refinements.

The Widsith is especially good regardless of what role your Yae Miko will be playing. Not only does it give a hefty amount of Crit DMG, it also gives alternating DMG, ATK%, and Elemental Mastery buffs – all of which significantly boost Yae Miko’s damage output – whenever she takes the field.

Meanwhile, the Solar Pearl works best if Yae Miko is your on-field Main DPS, as it buffs her normal attacks, skill, and burst.

If you’re looking for free-to-play options, you can go for the event-exclusive Oathsworn Eye or the craftable Hakushin Ring. The Oathsworn Eye buffs Yae Miko’s Energy Recharge after using her skill, which lets her constantly use her burst, while the Hakushin Ring gives Elemental DMG buffs after triggering an Electro reaction.

Yoimiya, on the other hand, can either opt for the 4-star Rust or the 3-star Slingshot. Yes, you read that right, a 3-star weapon is indeed a solid option for her.

At max refinement, Rust buffs Yoimiya’s normal attack DMG by a whopping 80% at the cost of reducing her Charged Attack DMG (which you won’t be using anyway). At R5, the Rust is better than any other 5-star weapon aside from Yoimiya’s signature, so if you already have it, then it’s really not worth trying to get anything else.

Meanwhile, the Slingshot increases Yoimiya’s DMG by 60% at max refinement after hitting an enemy with a normal attack. That’s another huge buff, and while its 3-star stats are definitely worse than Rust, it’s still a competitive option if you have nothing else.

Should you skip this banner and save your Primogems instead?

While we’ve championed Yae Miko and Yoimiya in this article, we do have to admit that this banner isn’t a must-pull. If you don’t feel the need to pull for them and instead want to save your Primogems, it’s a good decision especially when considering what future content is headed our way.

For one, the second half of version 3.7 features reruns for Kazuha and Alhaitham. While Alhaitham is one of the best DPS characters right now, Kazuha still dominates the spotlight as hands-down one of the best characters in the entire game.

If you don’t have Kazuha yet, then we definitely recommend saving for him instead. If there were any definite must-pull characters in Genshin Impact, Kazuha is one of them. Not only does he provide insane buffs to elemental damage (except for Cryo and Geo), his own damage output is nothing to scoff at either. While we can go on and on about why Kazuha is such a good character, we think the fact that almost every hypercarry damage showcase video with insane damage numbers features him is reason enough.

We’re also nearing the end of our time in Sumeru too, with Fontaine and new characters from the region looming on the horizon. With that said, we expect version 3 to end with 3.8, so we’ll have one more version likely filled with reruns too.

Will 3.8 finally see the return of Eula? If you’re one of the many languishing Eula wanters, perhaps you’ll need to save up for just one more version before you finally find salvation.
