Pumpkin spice and everything nice: Fall into these delicious coffee drinks

The changing of the season is right around the corner. This is the season of pumpkin spice and everything nice. It may be too early for big sweaters and cozy blankets, but the high temperatures are not stopping some stores from giving the people what they want: pumpkin.

Every coffee location is offering something unique. A list of favorites has been offered to provide pumpkin lovers, coffee enthusiasts, and even ideas for the adventurous with several options to get their pumpkin fix.

Roasters Coffee and Tea Company isn’t only celebrating the pumpkin season, but also their 30th birthday. The big 3-0 is known as a pearl year, so Roasters has formulated a cinnamon and vanilla cold brew topped with their sweet cold foam that they have named the pearl.

“We want people to keep their eyes peeled for some of the things we have coming for this month. Our social media helps keep people in the loop on these exciting specials,” said Tyler Llewellyn, Lowes Lane manager and hiring manager at Roasters Coffee and Tea Company.

If pumpkin is the name of your game, Roasters offers a classic pumpkin pie latte, pumpkin pie cold brew, and a pumpkin pie Frappuccino.

“We have had people asking about our pumpkin drinks since July, so we decided to get it out a little earlier for the people to start enjoying,” Llewellyn said. The scoop is that their pumpkin cold foam pairs very well with their cold drink but can also be added to hot drinks.

Another item that goes hand in hand with one of these drinks is their bread, which is gluten free and dairy free. “These breads are perfect for a quick breakfast or even a nice snack. With the season upon us, we now have pumpkin bread and pumpkin chocolate chip,” Llewellyn said.

For a sip of summer, Roasters offers teasers that come in three flavors, yuzu, blueberry, and strawberry. These flavors can be mixed with each other to create a new flavor.

Roasters Coffee and Tea Company currently has four locations in Amarillo:

  • 1818 Georgia Street

  • 6014 Lowes Lane

  • 3429 Soncy Road

  • 4709 Bell Street

Cliffside Coffee is not pulling any punches with their fall drinks, but something different that Cliffside did for this year was keeping pumpkin around all year.

Faith Harm, manager of operations at Cliffside Coffee, shared a secret drink that screams fall: A vanilla pumpkin chai, double dirty, with breve. Harm said, “This drink adds a fun twist to a typical pumpkin chai. 'Double dirty' means we put two espresso shots in it so you’re still getting that caffeine and the cinnamon chai flavor.”

Some of the Cliffside Coffee fall drinks include their pumpkin latte, pumpkin cold brew, maple breve, and their bourbon caramel cold brew. For the bourbon caramel cold brew, add some English toffee and you have successfully navigated your way to another sneaky menu item. “I love seeing how excited people get this time of year, even though I am not a pumpkin fan. I get my one slice of pumpkin pie a year, and that is all I need,” Harm said.

Cliffside Coffee currently has two Amarillo locations:

  • 4212 SW 45th Ave

  • 2540 Ross Osage

Starbucks, of course, is known for their pumpkin spice latte (PSL) fans. They haven’t held back this year on their fall flavors: Not only did they bring back pumpkin, but they threw in some crisp apple drinks to switch up the flavor.

Starbucks has a classic pumpkin spice latte and pumpkin cream cold foam, but the apple has entered the chat with their apple crisp oat milk macchiato. According to the Starbucks website, this drink is made of Starbucks blonde espresso as well as warm spices, brown sugar, and creamy oat milk, making this drink a nice alternative to the pumpkin takeover. For a sweet treat at Starbucks, they are offering their pumpkin cream cheese muffin.

Starbucks has many locations sprinkled around Amarillo, snuggled inside of some United's and inside Target and Barnes and Noble. Some brick-and-mortar options are listed below:

  • 8619 Canyon Dr.

  • 5140 S. Coulter St.

  • 3240 S Soncy Rd.

  • A new location will be opening soon on Amarillo Boulevard and Plum Creek Drive.

Dutch Bros Coffee is adding an entire new coffee flavor with their white coffee. According to Dutch Bros, their white coffee is roasted at half the time and at a lower temperature and has more caffeine than their regular coffee.

Their two featured drinks that will be around until the end of October are their new sweater weather chai made with white coffee. Their caramel pumpkin brulee cold brew can also come as a freeze and a breve.

Dutch Bros is having their Buck for Kids event on Sept. 16. According to Dutch Bros, on this day, $1 from every drink sold will go toward local youth organizations to help fund brighter futures.

Dutch Bros has three locations in Amarillo:

  • 1600 Ross

  • 2209 S. Coulter

  • 5411 S. Coulter
