Update, August 25, 2020 5:04 a.m. Guys, it’s really happening!! Starbucks announced that the Pumpkin Spice Latte is officially coming back today, August 25, for its earliest recorded release day ever.

The drink is back for its 17th year (!!!) and as always you can get it hot, iced, or blended. Also returning for the second year is the fan fave Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew. It’s made with cold brew sweetened with vanilla syrup, topped with a pumpkin cream cold foam and a dusting of pumpkin spice topping, and honestly, we may even be more excited for its return than for the PSL’s! Don’t @ us please!

The fall menu goodness continues with the return of the Salted Caramel Mocha, which also comes in Frappuccino form, as well as bakery items like the Pumpkin Cream Cheese Muffin and Pumpkin Scone. It may still be sweltering outside but with this news, I officially declare that fall is here!

Update, August 24, 2020 10:19 a.m.: Still no news on the Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte front, but the chain did give fans a little treat this week ahead of the rumored launch date. You can call this fall hotline right now to treat yourself to all sorts of comforting fall sounds.

The hotline was first announced in a closed Facebook group for PSL fans called Leaf Rakers Society and was later announced on Starbucks' other social media channels. If you call 1-833-GET-FALL (or ‭1-833-438-3255), you'll get all sorts of lovely options to dial for some fall coffee-related soothing sounds. It's basically ASMR for PSL super-fans. The options include "Head out on a hayride" which will give you all the sounds of taking a zip around the pumpkin patch (OK, this one isn't super soothing as there is a bango involved, but it is cute) and "cozy up with your cup" which has the sounds of a fireplace. You can also dial nine at any time to go back to the main menu. One of the options is just the narrator saying "flannel" over and over again.

Unfortunately, none of the options include the official date of the PSL drop (don't worry, we checked) but since one of the options is the "Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew Falls," it was a littttleee hint that we can expect that fan-favorite drink to return this year. If we hear anything else, we'll be sure to update this post.

Update, August 20, 2020 1:30 p.m.: Since we first wrote this post, the buzz around the PSL starting date has only increased...by a lot. And though we don't have any official confirmation, the internet has clued us in to some hints that Starbucks could be eyeing the earliest PSL date on record.

Business Insider reportedly obtained internal Starbucks documents saying that the PSL will launch on August 25 (next Tuesday), which would be its earliest date since people began keeping track of such things.

SimpleMost also reported that a Target Starbucks location already posted a countdown to the 25th, another clue that Starbucks is targeting that as the launch day. So far, the chain is staying mum on the official release, but as soon as we get word, we'll be sure to update this post.

Original, August 3, 2020 5:41 p.m.: One of the most anticipated days of the year is almost upon us...PUMPKIN SPICE LATTE DAY. Although Starbucks has yet to technically announce the date, and nothing is set in stone until they finally let us know for sure, a few online sleuths think they've figured out when the drink will be back, and they think it will be here by the end of August.

A Starbucks in California posted a photo of their delivery of Pumpkin Spice-flavored sauce and declared that the cult-favorite drink would be returning on August 28. However multiple Redditors on the r/Starbucks Reddit said they were expecting it to launch on August 25, and this information was also posted in some Starbucks-centric Facebook groups. This would make it the last Tuesday in August, a pattern it has kept for the past two years.

Additionally, Totally The Bomb reported that it would actually be back on August 24. Confused yet? So are we. When we reached out about the return Starbucks would not confirm the date but provided the following statement:

"We’re not ready to (pumpkin) spice things up just yet and are still enjoying our favorite Starbucks summer drinks! To tide you over while you wait, check out some of the newest fall products that hit grocery shelves this month including the just-launched Starbucks® Maple Pecan Flavored Coffee and Starbucks® Salted Caramel Mocha Flavored Creamer, as well as the returning fan-favorite Starbucks® Pumpkin Spice Flavored Creamer. Images of our favorite Fall grocery products are available here."

This speculation comes as Starbucks confirmed on an earnings calls last week that the drink would be returning to menus. They did not give an official date, but the drink returned on August 27 last year, its earliest date ever, so many expect that it will return even earlier this year. We'll be sure to update this post when we get more info, but for now, get excited! We could have a PSL by Labor Day.
