Punta Gorda woman dies in I-75 crash in Fort Myers

Florida Highway Patrol said a passenger in a pickup died when the driver lost control, flipping the truck in Fort Myers on Tuesday morning.

Troopers said a 40-year-old Punta Gorda man was driving a Toyota Tacoma south on Interstate 75 north of the Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard exit about 9:30 a.m. when he lost control and overturned the truck.

The crash diverted traffic for hours, troopers had reported early afternoon Tuesday, clogging State Road 82 and the interstate.
