From pup who’s overcome challenges to a water lover, consider adopting canine friend

Charlotte Lucy

Breed: German shepherd

Age: 3 years old

Charlotte Lucy, who answers to Lucy Lou, is a goofy, quick-witted girl. She loves her favorite Kong ball and carries it around everywhere. She will try to sneak it into her sleep crate at night, but her foster mom at Melissa’s Second Chances won’t let her because she wakes up the house playing. She has feline friends and doggy friends in her foster home.

She has a medical condition known as megaesophagus. You can read more about it here.

Her condition is well-managed and she is always anxious to be in her Bailey chair (made just for dogs with her condition) for meals. You can set the clock with her timing. Her chair will follow her to her forever home. She cannot enjoy regular dog treats but she loves baby puffs. (Gerber and other companies make them for human babies, but dogs love them, too.)

Charlotte Lucy is completely kennel and house trained. She loves spending time in the yard sniffing and getting a suntan.

Oliver

Oliver

Breed: Basset hound mix

Age: 2 years old

Oliver is originally from Louisiana, and Wayside took him in when his previous shelter needed some extra help.

He’s a graduate of one of our training programs, so you know you’re getting quite the scholar. His favorite thing is toys, especially the stuffies. He also loves to play tug-of-war and chase a ball. He’s a super fun guy who is ready to play, play, play, but he’s a super good cuddler, too.

He knows “sit” and “shake,” but is eager to learn more with some yummy snacks for encouragement. He’s also learned that he enjoys playing with other dogs, and would likely enjoy having another playful dog to romp around with in his future home. Are you looking to add some fun in your life? Come meet Oliver.

Ladybug

Breed: Curly-coated retriever mix

Age: 1 year old

Ladybug is a happy, smart young dog looking for a loving and active home. She loves to learn, cuddle, go on walks and play in the water. Are you noticing a pattern here? She loves just about everything.

She even loves playing with other dogs, but her play style can be a little too much for some dogs. She’d like to meet her potential new friend before going home with them to make sure they are a good match. She enjoys chasing balls and tossing stuffies in the air with glee. Wayside has baby pools and Ladybug is a frequent splash enthusiast. She would love to be able to splash around in a lake or a pond somewhere.

She recently enrolled in a training program where she’s already learned “sit,” “down, “look” and “touch.” She’s also working on “leave it” and “wait.” She’s eligible for a free training session with one of our expert trainers and her new family after adoption. What Ladybug really wants is a family to cuddle with after a day of fun activities.

Wayside Waifs is able to welcome visitors without an appointment. To learn about the adoption process and available animals, visit the shelter’s site.
