WEST LAFAYETTE - For the second time in his career, Purdue safety has been named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week.

Allen had two interceptions in Saturday's win at Minnesota, two of three takeaways by the Boilermakers. The senior also had two interceptions at Iowa last season, helping seal a victory over the second-ranked Hawkeyes.

The native of Bluefield, Va., has 10 career interceptions and needs one more to move into a tie for third place on the school's list. Allen has three interceptions this season to lead the Big Ten.

Allen's first interception against the Golden Gophers came in the end zone, thwarting a scoring opportunity in the first half. His second pick wrapped up the game for the Boilermakers.
