Purdue volleyball duo receives all-region accolades

WEST LAFAYETTE - In case you hadn't heard, Purdue volleyball freshman Eva Hudson is good.

So good, in fact, the Big Ten named her as the best freshman in the league last week.

On Wednesday, Hudson was named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association's All-Northeast Region team and additionally as the region's Freshman of the Year.

Hudson led the Boilermakers to a 21-11 record and second-round appearance in the NCAA tournament as the team's go-to hitter. She led the Big Ten in total points with 546 and was second in the league in kills with 480. She racked up 15 or more kills 20 times.

The Fort Wayne native has company as sophomore middle blocker Raven Colvin earned all-region honorable mention honors.

Colvin had 151 block assists, the second most in a single season in Purdue history, and ranks 14th nationally in blocks per set (1.42).
