WEST LAFAYETTE - Eva Hudson's spectacular rookie season will continue Friday in the first round of the NCAA tournament.

But the freshman outside hitter racked up a trio of awards for her regular season on Wednesday.

The Fort Wayne native was named Big Ten Freshman of the Year in addition to all-freshman and All-Big Ten first-team selections.

Hudson is joined on the All-Big Ten team by Purdue teammates sophomore middle blocker Raven Colvin and senior libero Maddie Schermerhorn, who were second-team all-conference.

Hudson led the Big Ten in total points with 546 and was second in the league in kills with 480. She racked up 15 or more kills 20 times.

The Freshman of the Year honor is Purdue's second in program history and first since Debbie McDonald in 1986.
