Purse bingo event Aug. 27 to benefit Hillsdale CASA

On Aug. 27, a designer purse bingo will be holsted by Hillsdale CASA, a child advocate organization.

This year is the third year of the fundraiser and it will be at Johnny T’s Bistro. The event raises money to support the local CASA.

“We are a nonprofit organization of volunteers who work with kids in foster care and advocate for their best interests in court,” said Heather Upton, organizer of the event, “We run completely off of grants and donations and at the start of this fiscal year we lost our biggest grant due to budget cuts in Washington.

The tickets for the event sold out in three hours, said a statement from CASA.

“Tickets include 20 games of bingo, dinner, and intermission appetizers. There are also raffle baskets and a 50/50 draw,” Upton said.

In 2019, Upton brought the idea of a designer purse bingo to the CASA board, and since then has been completely in charge of organizing it, getting sponsors, selling tickets, and much more.

Doors will open at 4:30 p.m. and a buffet dinner and cash bar will be available for attendees.

Bingo starts at 6 p.m., with a raffle to follow. The raffle items were donated by community members and businesses.
