Ottawa County Sheriff's Office cites Put-in-Bay woman whose car went through Joe's Bar wall

PUT-IN-BAY ― A 21-year-old woman was trapped in her car after driving it through a wall of the iconic Joe's Bar around closing time Friday morning.

The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call for a single vehicle accident at Joe's Bar on South Bass Island, Put-in-Bay Township, at approximately 2:17 a.m. Friday.

The driver and only occupant, a 21-year-old Put-in-Bay resident, was found trapped in her vehicle that had driven into the side of the building.

She suffered minor injuries and had to be extricated from the vehicle by the Put-in-Bay Fire Department, with assistance by EMS. She was transported by medical helicopter to Toledo St. Vincent's Hospital for treatment.

The woman was issued a citation for operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol and operation without being in reasonable control. She was given a court date of Feb. 14 in Port Clinton Municipal Court.

The incident is under investigation by the Ottawa County Sheriff's Office.
