Putnam County inmates learn to become beekeepers

A bundle of bees just received a new home and plenty of helping hands thanks to the Beekeepers of Putnam County.

They now reside at the Putnam County jail farm where inmates are learning to become their keepers.

The jail welcomed a new apiary meant to keep the bees inside a collection of hives and colonies.

Putnam County Sheriff’s Office says the bees will help the gardens and can increase crop yields, in addition to producing honey and beeswax.
