Putnam North's Zander Baker, Putnam West Caya Smith named 2022-23 Oklahoma 7 Conference basketball MVPs

Putnam City North’s Zander Baker and Putnam City West’s Caya Smith were named boys and girls Most Valuable Players on Friday in the Oklahoma 7 Conference basketball awards.

Both Baker and Smith led their respective teams to the Class 6A state tournament. Baker also helped the Putnam North boys to a conference championship while Smith led the Putnam West girls to a conference championship.

Here’s a breakdown of the 2023 all-conference teams:

Offensive Player of the Year: Chiante’ Tramble, Putnam City West

Co-Defensive Player of the Year: Anthony Leonard, Putnam City North; Jordan Warrior, Putnam City West

Newcomer of the Year: CJ Smith, Putnam City North

Freshman of the Year: Deshawn Denson II, Midwest City

Coach of the Year: Ryan Wagner, Putnam City North
