PVDonuts announces new home — here's where you can find them starting in July

PVDonuts will set up shop at 158 Wickenden St., hoping to open in the space in early July. Providence's original and wildly popular artisan doughnut shop announced last week they would leave their Ives Street home after seven years, closing on June 25.

Tuesday night they shared that their new location is in the same neighborhood. The bakery and coffee shop, owned by Lori and Paul Kettelle, announced the news on social media posting a photo of the space formerly occupied by Picture This, a frame shop and art gallery.

"Work has already begun and we are prioritizing the completion of our kitchen above all else to avoid interruption to prior commitments (weddings/special events)," said the announcement on Instagram.

"We're looking to have our retail space open in early July and can't wait to welcome you into our new home!" it said.

The "Farewell Ives St." menu of 28 favorites, from brioche and cake to vegan and flourless, will be sold through the closing date at the end of June.

As to why they are leaving Ives, they posted a simple sentence last week: "To keep it short, we could not come to a financially sustainable agreement on a lease renewal."

The opening of PVDonuts was accompanied by many lines. Even now, after seven years, the donuts are wildly popular and generally sell out.

In Tuesday night's post, they noted they would "be joining a number of other amazing businesses along the street, and are fortunate to have found a wonderful landlord who shares our vision for the space and the future of PVDonuts."

They started back in 2016 as a pop-up at Sin, the dessert shop which was then on industrial Allens Avenue. They moved into 79 Ives and the lines of fans began to form. Even now, they regularly sell out.

Each month, PVDonuts posts a new menu featuring a variety of styles even including doughnut holes and filled pastries Their brilliant marketing, as well as their always interesting flavors, have kept the business popular.

Last year, they opened a sister business, Oak Bake Shop, a self-described Jew-ish bakery at 130 Cypress St. in Providence.
