Quabbin Regional teacher who was subject of investigation no longer in the school district

BARRE — A teacher who was the subject of a complaint and investigation in May is no longer employed in the Quabbin Regional School District.

District superintendent Sheila A. Muir said in an email Wednesday that the "district has concluded their investigation in this matter."

Muir did not elaborate on whether the employee was terminated or resigned. She did not disclose what, if anything, was found during the investigation.

In May, Muir confirmed that an employee had been placed on leave as the district and Barre police investigated a complaint involving a student. Officials said no students were injured and the incident appeared to be isolated with no other students in danger.

Barre Police Chief James Sabourin said this week that the police investigation into the matter is ongoing.

There have been no charges filed in the case but, Sabourin said, the investigation is not complete and officers continue to seek information in the matter.

Muir has said that the, "health, safety and well-being of the entire Quabbin Regional School District community is always the priority of the district."

School starts Aug. 31 in the Quabbin Regional School District, which comprises Barre, Hardwick, Hubbardston, Oakham and New Braintree.
