Qualifying for fall elections ends in Rapides Parish and across Louisiana
Qualifying for fall elections in Louisiana has ended, and some Rapides Parish officials were returned to office without opposition.
Clerk of Court Robin Hooter and Coroner Jonathan Hunter were two officials who drew no challengers for their offices. Three Rapides Parish Police jurors — Teddy Fountaine III, Sean McGlothlin and Jay Scott — also were returned to office.
In addition to statewide and legislative seats, voters in Rapides Parish will choose candidates for sheriff through constable.
Here's what you need to know:
Primary election: Saturday, Oct. 14
Early voting for Oct. 14 primary: Sept. 30-Oct. 7
General election: Saturday, Nov. 18
Early voting for Nov. 18 general: Nov. 3-11
Early voting will be held at the Rapides Parish Courthouse, 701 Murray St. in downtown Alexandria, and at Kees Park Community Center, 2450 La. Highway 28 East in Pineville.
