Earlier this year the Queen made her annual visit to Sandringham Women's Institute, were she was welcomed by Alexander Armstrong, host of the hit BBC quiz show, Pointless.

Taking everyone by surprise at the little village hall in Norfolk, the monarch took part in a live game of the hit TV show, and actually won the game as captain for her team.

The show's "most distinguished viewer" (according to Alexander), the Queen won three out of the five matches, but it was one subject in particular that she completely aced.

Talking on Good Morning Britain, Alexander revealed: "She got one spot on. The category was owls and I said, 'How many people do you think said snowy owl?'

"They were going to go for 10 people of 100 and she said, 'No, I think 12' and she got it spot on. She knows her owls, and not just owls, it doesn’t stop there."

Chuckling with with hosts Richard Madeley and Kate Garraway, the presenter also opened up about how the game came about, and how surreal it felt.

"I was invited to the WI... Tiny village hall in the middle of the countryside, 35 people in the audience, one of them who just happens to be The Queen. It was like one of those dreams…

"As part of my talk, at the end... I split them into two teams and we played a little Pointless. She was brilliant, really good."

He concluded: "It was extraordinary."

Speaking to reports in Norfolk after the game happened, Alexander explained: "I think Her Majesty and the team can be very pleased with themselves tonight and go back covered in glory.

"I think they can look back over the match and feel rightly proud of what they achieved."

The Queen's rival was vice-president of the Sandringham WI, Yvonne Browne, who captained the other team.

It's safe to say she stood no chance again Her Majesty and her incredible knowledge of owls!
