Queen Elizabeth Just Had the Palace Release a Formal Message to Donald Trump

Much was said about Queen Elizabeth and Donald Trump's July meeting at Windsor Castle (did he really make her wait?) but it must've ended on at least a neutral note, because she's reaching out to him through Buckingham Palace. The monarch released a statement addressed to Trump early Saturday morning, and she weighed in on the California wildfires that have devastated the area and left 1,000 missing.

"Prince Philip and I offer our deepest sympathies to the people of California, who continue to suffer from the devastating fires across the state," she wrote.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of the victims, and to all those who have lost their homes and livelihoods. I pay tribute to the courage and dedication of the U.S. emergency services and the volunteers that have provided support."

As of Saturday, NBC reports that the fire is the deadliest in the United States in a century, with a confirmed death toll of 71. Queen Elizabeth is the most recent — and arguably most unexpected — person to comment on what's happening, but many celebrities who live in the area have taken to social media to talk about it.

Sadly my house couldn’t be saved. The courageous firefighters were able to save my cars and personal items recovered from my home. I thanked the fire chief and his team of firemen for all of their hard work. He took the time to explain what happened and I’m grateful for all of their hard work trying to save my home. Sad we lost our home but grateful that my family is safe. Luckily we quickly evacuated our house yesterday after a patrol car drove up the street announcing mandatory evacuations.
