Queen Letizia Has Fashion’s Hottest New Skirt Trend for Under $20

The Spanish monarch wore a snakeskin skirt by Zara that proved a statement piece doesn’t have to cost a fortune.

Today, Queen Letizia of Spain welcomed various guests into her home, Zarzuela Palace, in Madrid, Spain. She met with representatives from Vogue Spain, as well as the organizing committee of “Fruit Attraction,” a fruit and vegetable trade show. For the busy day of meet-and-greets, Her Majesty pulled out one of her signature fashion moves, opting to wear a surprisingly affordable label that she has favored for many prior occasions.

Eschewing a luxury label, the Spanish monarch slipped on Zara’s below-the-knee skirt in an all-over snakeskin print, which currently retails for $19.99 on sale. The pleated silhouette was a big trend on the runways for Spring, popping up at Valentino, Brandon Maxwell, Gucci, among other shows.

This isn’t the first time she’s worn the Spanish fast fashion brand, nor is it the Queen’s first time in a well-priced ensemble: some of her past appearances has seen her in brands such as ASOS and Steve Madden shoes. For this particular look, though, she styled the skirt with a simple black sweater and fitted knee-high boots, which had a pointy toe and pin-thin stiletto. Elegant silver hoops added further regal polish.

Considering Meghan Markle has also recently gravitated towards under-$50 pieces—the Duchess of Sussex was spotted in a $35 dress by H&M earlier this week—it goes to show that even royals know the value of a good bargain.
