The Queen and Prince Philip Were Not Involved in Conversations About Archie's Skin Tone

Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip weren't involved in the internal, racist conversations within the monarchy surrounding Archie's skin tone, Oprah Winfrey told Gayle King today on CBS This Morning.

During last night's airing of the tell-all Sussex interview with Winfrey, the couple revealed that there were "several conversations" between certain members of the royal family who were concerned about "how dark" Archie might be once he was born. The two would not say who was responsible for the racist comments as it would be "very damaging" to their reputation.

Off-camera Winfrey said that Prince Harry had disclosed to her that the monarchs weren't involved with the concerns over their great grandson's skin color, though he wouldn't divulge the exact identities of who brought the topic forward to him.

"He did not share the identity with me but he wanted to make sure that I knew, and if I had an opportunity to share it, that it was not his grandmother nor his grandfather, who were a part of those conversations," Winfrey said.

In another unseen clip from Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's interview with Oprah Winfrey, Harry revealed how the racism Meghan experienced was a large part of why they decided to leave the U.K. and step down senior royals.

When Winfrey asked, "Did you leave the country because of racism?"

Harry said, "It was a large part of it."
