Fresh off performing at the VMAs, singer-songwriter Olivia Rodrigo announced a new 2024 tour and it’s coming to Lexington.

Rodrigo, who has given voice to a new generation of teen heartbreak, will make her Rupp Arena debut July 24 with the PinkPantheress, according to Live Nation.

This is only Rodrigo’s second concert tour and her first to play arena-sized venues. The 57-date tour begins Feb. 23 in Palm Springs, California, and heads overseas to Europe before returning to the U.S. in July. She finishes Aug. 14 in Los Angeles.

To hint at the news, Lexington landmarks on Tuesday night were lit up in purple, the color of Rodrigo’s 2021 debut album “Sour” and her just-released second album “Guts.”

Rodrigo a multiple Grammy winner

Rodrigo, 20, performed two songs at the VMAs Sept. 12. During “Vampire” her stage set began to fall apart, but it was all part of a dramatic reset. After a curtain came down she resumed with “Get Him Back.”

Both songs are off her new album.

Rodrigo burst on to the music scene in 2021 with the angst-y song “Drivers License,” which earned her a Grammy for Best Pop Solo Performance. “Sour” won the Grammy for Best Pop Vocal Album. Rodrigo also won the 2022 Grammy for Best New Artist, Billboard Music Award for Top Female Artist of 2022, MTV VMA for Best New Artist and many more awards.

She also was named Time magazine’s 2021 Entertainer of the Year.
