Queensland Man Plays Piano in Flooded Garage

A Queensland man decided to give a piano a “final send off” after the garage it was in flooded during heavy rain on February 27.

This video was taken by David Xie at his home in St Lucia, a suburb of Brisbane. It shows Gianluca, the owner of the apartment unit he lives in, playing the piano in the floodwater.

Xie told Storyful that he and his girlfriend woke up at around 4 am to the sound of loud water hammering the pipes at his home.

“Upon turning on the lights we saw the ground was flooded with half a foot of water. We tried to salvage what we could, but then just went back to sleep hoping the water would go away. Much to our chagrin, it did not,” Xie said.

“At about 6 am, Gianluca and the others woke us up and there was about two feet of water. Furniture was floating and the fridge was soon floating as well. We moved the piano bench upstairs and Gianluca figured, may as well give the piano a final send off, pictured in the video.” Credit: David Xie via Storyful
