The Washington County Board of License Commissioners issued a Class B restaurant beer, wine and liquor license to Lori Thomas and Paul Castle Jr. for the restaurant last month.

The liquor board also issued a Class B restaurant bear, wine and liquor license last month to Ada Juarez, proprietor of the new Casa Juarez Mexican and Salvadorean restaurant in Hagerstown.

Casa Juarez Restaurant opened in Hagerstown’s East End in early October. The eatery is in the former home of Rocco's Italian Family Restaurant at 501 Liberty St.

Owner Ada Juarez, who is from El Salvador, has 15 years in the restaurant business.

The restaurant is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.

The menu includes pupusas, a traditional Salvadorean item that can be ordered to be made with corn flour or rice flour, Juarez said.

There also is a list of Molcajetes specialties, which are lightly seasoned Salvadorean dishes served in a bowl made of volcanic rock to keep the food warm, she said.

Other items include Salvadorean-style soups.

The menu is available at casajuarezrestaurant.com.
