Sample Hagerstown restaurants and walk off calories, too

As Hagerstown's Arts and Entertainment District continues to expand, a new business promises to introduce you to all the eateries in the district.

We Keep Ya Walkin' offers a walking food tour in and around the A&E District, according to a news release from Visit Hagerstown.

The We Keep Ya Walkin’ food tour will consist of a historical walking tour downtown, with stops to sample two food tastings each at four participating restaurants. It ends with a stop at the distillery downtown. The tour lasts about three hours, but the walk is about a mile long.

Miles and Hollingsworth got the idea after taking part in a similar tour during a visit this summer to New York City. Miles thought the concept could work in Hagerstown.

Miles is currently administrator for the Washington County Board of License Commissioners, also known as the Liquor Board.

Hagerstown's second Chick-fil-A opening soon

The new Chick-fil-A that has been under construction on Sharpsburg Pike is nearing completion, and the restaurant is busy hiring staff.

Local leaders have been invited to a grand opening ceremony on Oct. 11.

The new location "will feature one of the first of this store model in the Northeast," according to the Washington County Chamber of Commerce.

Branded Chophouse to open in Boonsboro

With a variety of steak dishes and other American cuisine on the menu, Branded Chophouse will soon be open for business at 7704 Old National Pike on the site of the former Jockey Bar & Grill.

Opening is planned for mid-October, according to Floor Manager Crystal Rae.

The Washington County Board of License Commissioners recently approved a Class B Restaurant Beer, Wine and Liquor license for the restaurant.

Rae said Branded Chophouse will be using OpenTable for online reservations. Watch the restaurant's website at brandedchophouse.com or follow its Facebook page for developments.
