Quick kicks: Bartlesville swimmers open season with powerful thrust

Bartlesville High’s swim swept the large field during Tuesday’s pool season opener held at the Phillips Aquatic Center.

The field included Bartlesville, Edison, Enid, Muskogee, Wesleyan Christian and some home school competitors.

Bartlesville teams powered to the championship in five of the six relay races.

In the girls’ competition, leading Bartlesville performers included Annabelle Droege, who won the 500 free and came in second in the 100 fly; Emma Howze who won the 200 free; Ashlynn Taylor, who won the 100 back; and Regan Patzkowski, who won the 100 fly.

For the Bruin boys, Griffin Craig won two titles — the 200 free and 100 fly. Jarrett Moore added a championship in the 200 individual medley and a second place in the 100 fly. Luke Olsen won the 100 backstroke and came in third in the 200 free.

Chad Englehart coaches the Bartlesville High team.

For Wesleyan Christian, Sam Conrad won the boys 100 breast.

For the home school girls, Addison Howze captured the 200 I.M., while Camden McDonald finished first in the boys 100 free.
