QUINCY − From a bakery in the North End to a Boston Fire Department station and now a watering hole in Quincy, Matt Damon and Casey Affleck sure are getting around for their latest film.

"The Instigators," an Apple TV+ heist film staring the two actors, has been filming at Boston-area locations for the last week. On Monday, set dressers could be seen sprucing up Malachy's Saloon on Quincy's Granite Street in preparation for a Wednesday shoot that will close down the bar for the day.

The two Massachusetts natives were seen outside the Boston Fire Department station on Cambridge Street in Beacon Hill on Saturday, and camera crews took over Faneuil Hall and Boston City Hall Plaza − complete with fake cop cars and fake snow. Hundreds of people milled around the block of Bova's Bakery in the North End last Wednesday, which was shut down for the week for a dramatic scene that included smashing bakery cases and food.

"The Instigators" is a film about two thieves who go on the run with the help of one of their therapists after a robbery goes awry, according to Deadline. Damon is producing the film alongside Ben Affleck under their production company Artists Equity for distribution by Apple TV+ under Apple Original Films.

In addition to Damon ("Good Will Hunting," "Jason Bourne") and Affleck ("Good Will Hunting," "Manchester by the Sea"), the movie stars Hong Chau ("The Whale"), Paul Walter Hauser ("I, Tonya") and Michael Stuhlbarg ("Boardwalk Empire"). It's directed by Doug Liman, who is famous for hits including "The Bourne Identity," "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" and "Swingers."

The South Shore has had more than its fair share of time on the silver screen in recent years, and more is on the way. Here are some movies with South Shore ties to keep an eye out for:

  • "Boston Strangler,” a true-crime drama about the two trailblazing South Shore female reporters who broke the story of the infamous serial killer, debuted this month on Hulu. The movie started filming in December 2021 at locations in Boston and surrounding towns, including the old Foster Elementary School in Braintree.

  • Quincy-shot "The Collaboration," about the complicated friendship between Andy Warhol (Paul Bettany, “Avengers”) and fellow artist Jean-Michel Basquiat (Jeremy Pope, “The Inspection”), is expected to hit theaters later this year.

  • Oscar winner Paul Giamatti reunites with his “Sideways” director Alexander Payne for “The Holdovers,” set to release in November. In the movie, which was shot in about a dozen locales, including Milton, Giamatti plays a disliked teacher at an elite boarding school who's forced to mind the "holdover" students who have nowhere to go during Christmas break.

  • Sony-Marvel’s “Spider-Man” superhero spinoff “Madame Web,” which filmed scenes at Union Point in Weymouth, is set to release Feb. 16, 2024.
