Quincy competes at USA Clay Target League National Championship

MASON, MI. — The United States High School Clay Target league National Championship was held this past week in Mason, MI. and the contingent from Quincy produced a great showing in both team and individual competitions.

In all 232 teams from across the nation made the trip to Mason with the Quincy Schools Clay Target Team sending two separate teams.

The first Quincy team, consisting of Hamilton Spieth, Brady Ward, Nathan White, Carter Pish and Ethan Willison, finished in forty-first place overall after round one and moved on to the top 80 championship round on day two of the competition.

The second Quincy team, consisting of Ethan Drumm, Kyha Brewer, Natalee Weaver, Lucas Dixon and Brody Fillmore, finished in two hundred and ninth place overall to finish out their team season.

In the second day of the team competition the Quincy 1 squad put together a solid effort and ended up finishing in fifty-ninth place overall in the national standings.

Saturday saw the National Individual Competition with seven Quincy members competing in a field of 1716 individuals from across the country.

Hamilton Spieth led the way for Quincy as he finished in the top 400 shooters on the first day of competition, advancing on to day two of the tournament. In the end Spieth put together a solid outing, finishing in one hundred and twenty-seventh place overall and one hundred and seventeenth in the men’s division.

Also shooting well for the Quincy Orioles was Carter Pish who finished in 470th overall and 434th in the men’s division; Kyha Brewer who finished in 869th overall and 86th in the female division; Natalee Weaver who finished in 965th overall and 97th int he female division; Connor Martin who finished in 1115th place, 994th in the male division; Caleb Wendorf who finished in 1332nd place and 1174 in the male division; and Michael Wendorf who finished din 1540th overall and 1334th in the male division.

Congratulations to the Quincy High School Clay Target team on their national tournament finishes.
