UNION CITY, MI. — The Quincy Oriole wrestling program kicked off their 2022-23 season on Wednesday night with a trip to Union City for non-conference double dual meet action.

Quincy had a solid opening night, finishing 2-0 with wins over Harper Creek and Olivet.

In the opening dual versus Harper Creek the Orioles took the 45-36 victory.

The first match of the season for Quincy pitted one of the best in the state, Jacob Reif, against Harper Cree’s Israel Waite in a match that would go the distance, with Reif taking the 4-0 decision.

Also taking wins for Quincy was Braiden Mosher via pin fall; Gavin Peet via pin fall; Davin George with a void at 190 pounds; Hamilton Speith with a pin fall win; Chase Jenson with a win via pin fall in the freshman’s first ever match; Caleb Rose with a pin fall win; and Karter Pierce with a win via pin fall.

In the second dual of the night it was Quincy defeating Olivet to improve to 2-0. Bringing in wins for Quincy was Kaleb Handy via void; Grayson Laney via void; Braiden Mosher via pin fall; Gavin Peet via pin fall; Davin George with a pin; Hamilton Speith with a pin fall win; Chase Jenson with a win by void; Caleb Rose with a void; and Karter Pierce with a win via pin fall.

In JV matches Quincy went 5-0 to really start off the season on the right foot. Taking wins for Quincy JV was Ethan Hollister with two wins; Xavier Fulbright with a win; Lucas Dixon with a win; and Landon Beardon with a victory.

Quincy will next see action on the mats Saturday when they travel to the Concord Invite.
