Good morning, Texas fans —

Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers hasn’t reached superstar status yet, apparently. At least not with UT parking officials.

“How’d I get towed during the game,” Ewers tweeted late Saturday.

Someday, it’ll make a great story. Ewers will tell his grandchildren about his first start at Texas, his first touchdown pass to Ja’Tavion Sanders, his first victory over Louisiana-Monroe and how his car got towed.

Texas scored a 52-10 blowout over Louisiana-Monroe at Royal-Memorial Stadium to get off to a solid 1-0 start. Offense, defense and special teams all scored touchdowns in the rout as the Horns covered a 38-point spread with relative ease.

For me, one of the more surprising performances Saturday night came from defensive end Barryn Sorrell. Was it just me or was he everywhere? Sorrell had six tackles and 1 ½ sacks.

For a team that needs someone to emerge as a solid pass rusher, this was good to see.

“I thought Sorrell has worked on his craft and he cut it loose tonight,” coach Steve Sarkisian said.

Of course, the talk afterward shifted forward to this week’s clash with No. 1 Alabama. ESPN broke the news that “College GameDay” will be coming to our city this weekend, probably setting up shop again on the LBJ Lawn. That’s likely why the Flo Rida concert will be after the game, not before as is custom.

The American-Statesman staff had plenty to write about after Saturday’s win, and we’ll have plenty more in the days ahead.

Hope everyone enjoyed Saturday.
